AJ Tracey joins independent music conference, AIM Connected, as keynote speaker
27 January 2020 - Press releaseUK rap sensation AJ Tracey will be joining The Association of Independent Music (AIM)'s upcoming independent music conference, AIM Connected, for a keynote discussion about his career as an independent artist alongside his manager, Andy Musgrave.
AJ Tracey has remained fiercely independent since releasing his first EP in 2015 to become one of the leading names in UK rap, scoring one of the biggest independent albums of 2019, charting at #3, producing two Platinum singles, and selling out two nights at the 10,000 capacity venue, Alexandra Palace.
The talented entrepreneur joins AIM Connected with his manager, Andy Musgrave, Founder of the fast-growing AIM Member, Supernature. The duo will discuss AJ's journey from pirate radio to becoming one of the UK's biggest rappers. Having achieved commercial success without support from the traditional channels, they will reveal how they built their business from the ground up, where they are today and how they see the future of the independent music landscape.
A proud advocate of independence, AJ Tracey is no stranger to AIM events, having kicked off the 2019 AIM Independent Music Awards with a surprise performance of his hit song Ladbroke Grove.
AIM's CEO Paul Pacifico said: "AJ and Andy's achievements speak for themselves. With a strong independent spirit and keen business savviness, they are a brilliant example of the ongoing success of UK independent music. We're delighted to have them addressing our audience of innovative small-businesses and entrepreneurs at AIM Connected this year."
AIM Connected unites the themes of business, tech and people over a full day of programming in North London. This year the conference has eschewed panel discussions in favour of quick-fire 'TED-style' Strong Opinions presentations, case studies on independent success stories, interactive workshops and speed networking sessions.
Highlights include Strong Opinions on how music can help to tackle the climate crisis from the Founder of Young Turks, Caius Pawson, as well as insight on how voice activation is changing the music landscape from Amazon Music's Ivy Taylor. AIM Member Anjunabeats will also present a case study on the innovative release of Grammy Award-winning label founders Above and Beyond's album 'Flow State', which was launched as a journey for yoga, meditation and mindfulness.
The full line-up of speakers comprise a range of experts joining the conference from companies across the music industry and creative sectors including: Bandcamp, Deezer, Amazon Music, Young Turks, Anjunabeats, PPL, PRS for Music, AWAL, FUGA and Proper Music.
