New Division The Latest Move in ADA’s Globalization Strategy
Warner Music Group’s ADA Worldwide announces the launch of ADA Asia, headquartered in Singapore and led by respected industry exec Chee Meng Tan. The division will extend ADA’s bespoke service across Greater China, Korea and South East Asia, at scale, for artists and labels of all levels, from unsigned performers to major indies. Chee Meng, who previously led Spotify’s operations in Asia for almost seven years, will report to Eliah Seton, President of Independent Music & Creator Services at Warner Music Group.
The move is the latest stage in ADA Worldwide’s globalisation strategy, following the launch of ADA Latin in July. The company has already enjoyed international success with Asian artists including 12 Tone/88 Rising’s Rich Brian and Joji.
Eliah Seton says: “Building on the extraordinary growth of our international repertoire in Asia, we’re excited to continue our strategy of building a local powerhouse in the region. As Spotify’s first employee in Asia, Chee Meng knows what it takes to build a huge, successful and rapidly growing business. He has a true entrepreneur’s agility, so the sky's the limit for ADA in Asia with Chee Meng at the helm.”
Chee Meng Tan adds: “We're on a mission to deliver a best-in-class service to independent artists and labels of all levels across Asia, and help them connect with audiences around the world. From K-Pop to Asian Hip-Hop, our region is a hotbed of creative talent that’s increasingly finding an international audience and ADA is uniquely placed to partner with these creators to take them to the next level, while embracing their originality and creativity."
A true supporter of creators, Chee Meng is charged with helping extend the global reach of ADA, enabling artists to find new audiences, connect with fans and additional revenue opportunities in the digital marketplace.
Chee Meng arrives at ADA with more than 20 years’ experience and has held senior roles at MTV Asia, SingTel, Sony Music Entertainment and Spotify. He has worked directly with some of the region’s biggest artists including BTS, Jay Chou and Rich Brian, and been behind the production of tentpole live events, such as the MTV Asia Awards and Spotify on Stage.
