Absolute Marketing & Distribution rebrands as Absolute Label Services

Market Leader Absolute Marketing & Distribution rebrands as Absolute Label Services and launches unique client hub, Absolute Project.

Absolute Marketing & Distribution announce rebrand as Absolute Label Services to reflect the existing service that the London- based company offers. Founded in 1998 by MD Henry Semmence, Absolute has been the market leader in what is now known as ‘label services’ for the best part of 18 years, during which time they have enabled artists including Imogen Heap, Thunder, Sway, Crystal Fighters, McBusted and labels, including earMUSIC and 3Beat Records, to successfully deliver their releases via a non- traditional record deal.

With the rebrand comes an innovative new service Absolute Project - an online hub for Absolute Label Services’ clients. This analytics hub will enable clients to access near real-time data from digital sales, streaming and physical sales worldwide.

The re-brand to Absolute Label Services is clearly more than a new logo and name change. “We’ve reached a point where our old brand didn’t reflect who we are or reinforce what we’ve done, but more importantly didn’t highlight the developing services we now offer our clients.” explains company director Simon Wills. Alongside marketing, digital management and distribution, Absolute Label Services offers full assistance with every aspect of a release: servicing project management, product strategy, revenue collection and reporting, through to sync, neighbouring rights and ancillary income.

Artists who have recently benefited from Absolute’s label services including Jack Savoretti who scored his first Top 20 album with Written In Scars in February. In the same month, Thunder’s new LP Wonder Days entered the UK Official Album Chart at No.9. Others who have benefited include Blue, James Vincent McMorrow, Ward Thomas, Jay Sean, AATW/3 Beat Records and Krept & Konan. Leading German label earMUSIC, Christian specialist label Integrity and, newly signed, Westbury Music chose Absolute as the optimum solution to bring their products to the market.

“As Germany’s biggest independent label, having Absolute as our partner has allowed us to successfully grow and develop our business in the UK.” Max Vaccaro - earMUSIC

Additionally, Absolute has developed the international service it offers, releasing or assisting the international release of albums from Dexy’s, Imogen Heap, Boyz II Men, Sparks and many more via a series of bespoke marketing and distribution deals worldwide

Absolute has direct distribution deals with all digital service platforms, a structure that is unique in the label services field. “One of the exciting new areas that we’re launching alongside the re-brand is our offering of direct distribution with all of the DSPs (digital service platforms)” says Wills “There will be no aggregation whatsoever.”

Having been at the forefront of the creation of the sector now known today as label services, Absolute are innovating and shaping the future of it. The newly created hub Absolute Project will give the client access to direct feeds from physical retailers including HMV and Amazon and daily feeds from iTunes, YouTube, Spotify and Beatport. Absolute Project will also enable the client to see demographic details of who is listening to their music and where they’re listening by platform, and also to utilise the Sync playlist tool in order to monitor and share their catalogue with sync companies.

“As part of the development, we realised the importance of having useful and I underline the word useful statistics and live data” says MD Henry Semmence.

“Offering access to intelligent daily analytics from key platforms, our artists - both emerging and established - can now use data to shape their campaigns to success and develop future strategies.” adds director Mark Dowling.

CASE STUDY
Absolute worked with Stay Dench Recordings on the release of Lethal Bizzle’s
‘Rari Workout’ single. Absolute Project enabled this client to pinpoint which regions the single was selling in worldwide. That meant that they could make decisions about where they wanted to plot tour dates down to city level. We hold the regional information for UK, US, Canada, Australia, Germany, France and more.

Absolute Project also highlighted, through regional sales and streams data, that Lethal Bizzle had an active fan base in Coventry. Consequently he set up a gig there and it sold out in two days. Absolute are providing relevant information that labels can react to instantly. The label would not have had access to that information without Absolute Project.
