A Proper Appointment: Ginny Cooper joins Proper Music Distribution

-         Move strengthens Proper’s classical distribution arm

-         Former New Arts International manager brings the Australian Eloquence label, plus premier German label MDG with her to new role

-         Cooper also currently vice chair of BPI Classical Committee

Proper Music Group is boosting its successful Classical and Jazz division with the appointment of prominent classical music figure Ginny Cooper. 

A respected name in the classical music industry, Cooper is also vice chair of the BPI’s Classical Committee and sits on the selection board for the Music Export Growth Scheme. Drawing on her considerable experience, Cooper will assume the role of classical label manager within Proper Note, the classical and jazz division at Proper Music Distribution.

She joins Proper from Dutch company New Arts International, where she was UK sales & marketing manager. Other past roles include UK managing director of Codaex Distribution, and positions at EMI Records and Chandos Records. 

The move sees Cooper bring a host of key classical labels with her such as historical opera label Gala, premier German label MDG and the Australian Eloquence label, whose reputation for producing top quality recordings is well known. She will also continue to be the main point of contact for all New Arts labels that she currently works with.

They join Proper’s existing roster of high quality classical labels such as ECM and Avie. In addition, Cooper will take on a new business development role aimed at strengthening Proper’s leading position in the distribution of classical music in the UK.
