6 Music celebrates Record Store Day with The Vinyl Weekender

This coming weekend, BBC Radio 6 Music will celebrate Record Store Day (Saturday 22nd April) with The Vinyl Weekender.

The Vinyl Weekender kicks off on Friday (21st April), with presenters playing their favourite 7 inch records. On Saturday (22nd April), presenters will play their favourite 12 inch singles, and on Sunday (23rd April), the network will be celebrating albums and album tracks.

In addition, a brand new podcast called Counter Culture is now available on BBC Sounds here. Counter Culture is a five episode love letter to record shops across the UK and those that work, shop and - in some cases - live there. Each episode of the sound-scaped podcast focuses on several shops in a different city, and takes the listener behind the counter to hear stories from the vinyl warriors and taste-makers who shape these cities’ cultural landscapes. Scottish band Sacred Paws will be taking listeners to the vinyl racks of Glasgow, James Smith of Yard Act will be showing listeners around Leeds, Enola Gay will be in Belfast, Gruff Rhys in Cardiff and producer Graham Massey will be digging in the crates of Manchester.

Please see below for more Vinyl Weekender highlights which will be broadcast on 6 Music from Friday 21st – Sunday 23rd April.
