40+ emerging UK music creators are preparing to take the US by storm thanks to PRS Foundation’s International Showcase Fund

- PRS Foundation, the UK’s leading charitable funder of new music and talent development, announces today that 40+ UK artists are receiving support through the International Showcase Fund to perform at SXSW festival in Austin, Texas USA from 8th March 2018.

Alongside these artists will be three songwriters Yami, Siba and Phil Cook, who are being supported to attend the SXSW Songs songwriting camp. Another Sky, Georgia, Big Joanie and Howl & The Hum all receive support to showcase at the British Music Embassy through our partnership with BBC Music Introducing. The British Music Embassy will present seven evening and four daytime showcases at SXSW next week, see the full line-up here.
The International Showcase Fund is run by PRS Foundation in partnership with Department for International Trade, Arts Council England, British Underground, Musicians' Union and more recently Creative Scotland, PPL, Wales Arts International, Arts Council of Northern Ireland and Invest NI. It offers support for artists to take their first steps into international territories by enabling them to perform at key showcasing festivals and conferences such as Canadian Music Week, SXSW, Reeperbahn, Zandari Festival, Womex, Eurosonic, Jazzahead and Mutek which attract thousands of people working in the music industry from every corner of the globe. In the fund’s most recent report spanning 2013-16, 89% of supported artists returned with tangible business outcomes and every £1 invested by the International Showcase Fund generated an additional £8.90 in revenues for the supported artist.
