11 MMF Accelerator managers take artists - including Joesef, Moonchild Sanelly, George Riley & Poppy Ajudha - to perform at the official British Music Embassy showcase
04 March 2022 - Press release
The MMF is delighted to reveal that 11 past and present participants from our Accelerator Programme for Music Managers will take artists to perform at the British Music Embassy (BME) as part of this year’s SXSW music festival.
SXSW is widely considered the world’s preeminent showcase of new music and 2022 marks the first time the MMF has partnered with the BME, which will host 12 showcases of upcoming UK acts from 12th-19th March at the 700-capacity Cedar Street Courtyard.
Full details of the BME programme can be found here.
Supported by YouTube Music, Arts Council England, Creative Scotland and the Scottish Music Industry Association, Accelerator is the world’s first grants and training programme specifically for talented independent music managers - aiming to provide commercial sustainability to what is now a linchpin role in the modern music business, with an ever-increasing remit and range of responsibilities.
Since launching in 2019, more than 90 UK-based managers have benefitted from Accelerator’s combination of finance and training. This support has provided a springboard to some significant successes for these managers’ artist, songwriter and producer clients, including multiple Mercury Prize, Grammy and BRIT nominations, several Top 10 albums and a range of new recording, publishing, live and brand partnerships.

Paul Bonham, Accelerator Programme Manager, MMF:
“SXSW is hugely important for British music, and it feels highly symbolic that the first major music event to be shut by the pandemic will now be the first to return. The MMF is absolutely delighted to be joining the British Music Embassy as a partner, and I’m immensely proud to see 11 Accelerator participants, contributing to an incredible stage at the festival where the vast majority of artists are represented by our manager members. The overriding goal of Accelerator is to help talented British entrepreneurs build sustainable businesses to support the creative goals of new artists, songwriters and producers, and that’s precisely what we’re seeing evidence of in Austin.
Jasmine Srih, Unknown Territory, manager of George Riley:
"I am so excited to be attending SXSW with George Riley in 2022. Having been a part of the Accelerator programme in 2020, the knowledge I was able to gain and insight into how to actualise our ambition in playing SXSW to launch George in America has been invaluable, and I couldn't have done this without the help and support of the MMF."
