The role of Repertoire Data Quality Coordinator is a fixed term contract position until 31/12/2019 and supports PPL’s Repertoire team through working with the Repertoire Data Team Manager in the provision of repertoire and member data management services, on data provided by PPL Members, in order that the requirements set out in the PPL Data Policy are met, and that PPL can maximise revenue generation and pay-through.


About PPL

PPL is the UK’s music licensing company for over 100,000 performers and recording rightsholders. We exist to help ensure people who dedicate their time, money and talent to making recorded music are fairly paid for their work. Our members include performers ranging from emerging grassroots artists through to established session musicians and influential global artists, as well as independent and major record companies. We have been licensing the use of recorded music in the UK since 1934. This includes when it is broadcast on radio, TV, and online, and when it is played in public (shops, bars, nightclubs, offices etc.). PPL’s public performance licensing is now carried out on PPL’s behalf by PPL PRS Ltd, a joint venture between PPL and PRS for Music.

Through a network of international agreements with collective management organisations (CMOs) in other countries, PPL is also able to collect royalties for performers and recording rightsholders when their recorded music is played around the world. Our market-leading international collections business currently has 92 agreements around the world, covering over 90% of total global performance royalty value. In 2017 we collected £218.8 million in the UK and internationally and paid over 98,000 performers and record companies.


Job Summary


To support the Repertoire Data Team Manager in the provision of repertoire and member data management services on data provided by PPL Members in order that the requirements set out in the PPL Data Policy are met and that PPL can maximise revenue generation and pay-through. There will be a requirement to work with international repertoire to support workflow for Business Services projects with other CMOs.

The role will involve the identification of data issues and the liaison with other team members and other teams to ensure members take corrective actions to resolve key data gaps at source wherever possible.  If the data issues are not resolved by the members directly, this role will act to resolve the data issues by following the prescribed work instructions, policies and guidelines.  


Team Description



PPL’s Repertoire team are experts when it comes to music data. Through managing the PPL Repertoire Database they provide services and analysis on data submitted by PPL Members to ensure that requirements set out in the PPL Data Policy are met. Their work ensures that we can maximise revenue generation and pay-through. The Repertoire team also works to resolve key data gaps at source wherever possible, as well as promoting industry standards and working on international projects to improve music data quality.


Key requirements

• Educated to a minimum of an ‘A’ level (or equivalent) standard.

• Experienced in working in a data processing environment.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Is competent in the Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel and Outlook.

• The ability to communicate complex information in a concise and simplified manner.

• Always ensures accuracy.

• Ability to build positive customer relationships .

• Ability to meet and exceed the needs of internal customers by producing quality work and service.


Duties and responsibilities



The role will require co-operative  and positive working with other internal departments such as International, Business Improvement, Member Services, I&I, Distribution, L&BA and IT in order to seek and provide guidance and support and should provide information as requested to ensure that queries are resolved and revenue is distributed accurately. .

Direct external contact with record companies and performers and their representatives will be limited (as this is managed by the Member Services and International departments) but will require a professional and customer focused approach on those occasions.

The ability to provide this service in a complete, accurate and timely manner is key to the success of PPL.
