Portugal is the focus country of Eurosonic Noorderslag 2017, which continues until tomorrow (January 14) in Groningen in The Netherlands. Glockenwise are a young bunch of pop-punk musicians who count legends like MC5 and The Stooges amongst their influences, but there’s a more polished edge to their sound compared their heroes, as this energetic title track to their third album will testify. It’s packed with catchy hooks, strong riffs and engaging melodies throughout and has become a live favourite. They’ve performed at many major festivals including Primavera Sound and Rock In Rio, toured Europe twice, and even had their music synced in the past in TV shows including Channel 4’s long-running drama Shameless. Now, they’re heading to the Eurosonic stage with the aim to take their music to an even broader audience around Europe. Their showcase is later tonight (January 13) at Vera. There’s fire in the bellies, for sure, but they never let that anger and ferocity detract them from creating memorable driving rock anthems like this cool track. Their future looks bright.
