We say

Currently unsigned, and seeking both management and a publishing deal, let us introduce you to New Zealand four-piece Shakes. Their sound is instantly engaging, treaded a neat line between melodic indie rock and garage pop from the sixties. This wonderfully-layered track debuted at No.2 on indie radio stations in NZ, reached No.2 on the Indie Shuffle most popular list, has racked up over 250,000 plays via Spotify Global Viral Hits Top 50, found tastemaker blog support from Purple Melon, Tone Deaf, Apes & Tapes and more, and their great video for the song premiered via The Independent this week. So things are moving along nicely for the band, but it’s very early days. Strange Tides comes from their second four-track EP and they’ve many other excellent songs ready to reveal in the coming months, with hope of a full-length album sometime next year. Catchy guitar pop like this, built for mainstream radio, comes along so rarely these days. On this evidence, in future years, expect Shakes to earn a deserved place alongside fellow NZ greats like Split Enz and The Chills. Yep, it's that good.
