WhoSampled iPhone App Spotify Integration

WhoSampled has integrated with Spotify to take listeners on new musical journeys, by discovering the inspirations and origins of songs within their own libraries and playlists.
The music discovery service powered by the world’s largest database of sample­based music, cover songs and remixes, WhoSampled has launched a new version of its iPhone app integrating Spotify’s catalog of over 30 million songs and 1.5 billion playlists.
The new WhoSampled app allows 75 million Spotify users to scan their libraries and playlists to reveal the originals behind their favorite songs as well as listen to new interpretations of songs they love. Users can also directly add songs they find within WhoSampled into their Spotify playlists. These features are available to all Spotify users. Premium Spotify users can also stream songs within the WhoSampled app directly from Spotify.

Using the new app integration, a Spotify user who has Drake’s smash hit “Hotline Bling” in a playlist would be directed to listen to the song it samples heavily, “Why Can’t We Live Together” by Timmy Thomas, a somewhat forgotten soul classic from 1972. Listeners of Kendrick Lamar’s chart topping 2015 album “To Pimp a Butterfly” would be presented with the sampled originals by artists as diverse as Michael Jackson, Sufjan Stevens, The Isley Brothers, Tupac Shakur, James Brown and many others.
With a growing audience of over 1.2 million unique monthly active users, the popularity of WhoSampled is a testament to the importance music fans place on music discovery via samples, covers and remixes.
