Warner/Chappell songwriters shine at the BRIT Awards

Songwriters signed to Warner/Chappell Music, the global music publishing arm of Warner Music Group, gave incredible performances and walked off with some top prizes at last night’s BRIT Awards.

Mike Smith, Managing Director of Warner/Chappell Music UK, says: “I’m delighted that such a wide range of our talented British and international songwriters were recognised at the BRIT Awards.  With performances from Bruno Mars, Skepta, Stormzy and Katy Perry and awards going to Beyoncé and Rag‘n’Bone Man, the evening underscored the genius and diversity of the songwriters with which we’re privileged to work.”

“I was particularly moved by the tributes from Andrew Ridgeley, Pepsi and Shirlie to George Michael, as well as Chris Martin’s amazing musical homage to one of the greatest singer-songwriters of all time.  The combination struck just the right note to honour someone who is so missed and has left behind such an amazing legacy.”

The evening saw performances from Warner/Chappell songwriters Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, Skepta and Stormzy.  WCM songwriter Beyoncé further cemented her incredible year with the win for Best International Female.  Rag‘n’Bone Man won British Breakthrough Act to go with his previously announced Critics’ Choice.  ‘History’, a track co-written by WCM songwriter Ed Drewett, picked up the award for British Artist Video Of The Year, as the result of a live vote on Twitter during the show.
