The Official Charts brand moves into live events

OfficialCharts.com and Coalition Talent team up to create the Official Charts After Party tour

Official Charts After Party to kick-start the weekend on campus from autumn/winter 2015

Friday nights across the UK are about to get even bigger, thanks to Official Charts.

OfficialCharts.com and Coalition Talent are joining forces to create the aptly-titled Official Charts After Party tour, because with Friday being the new Sunday in chart land, it'd be rude not to.

From autumn/winter 2015, just hours after the week's Number 1 has been revealed, the Official Charts After Party will be bringing the Friday feeling to venues with a series of talent-led Friday night live shows, initially taking over the busiest university students' union clubs across the UK.

Born in the wake of New Music Fridays - the synchronised global release day for new music - and the historic switch of the Official Charts to Fridays, the Official Charts After Party represents the first foray into the live space for the growing Official Charts consumer brand.

Hosted by 19 year-old rising presenter/actor/DJ Cel Spellman (face of BBC Radio 1's The Number 1 Show, the recently launched CBBC Official Chart Show, BBC 1's Waterloo Road and Channel 4's Cucumber), the Official Charts After Party will feature live sets from established chart stars, supported by the hottest future chart contenders, video DJs, and themed DJ set of Official Chart Number 1s past and present from Cel himself.

With media support from the recently re-launched OfficialCharts.com, a site now reaching more than 2 million users every month, plus further targeted marketing amplification from student promotions agency Renegade Music, the shows are set to deliver another important new Official Charts platform for artists and labels to reach and engage with student tastemakers and potential new fans, particularly in the run up to Christmas.

Martin Talbot, chief executive of the Official Charts Company comments:
"The past 12 months have witnessed some of the biggest changes in the history of the Official Charts - from the inclusion of streaming into the Official Singles and Albums Charts, the introduction of global release day, the historic move to Friday charts, a new web platform, and the launch of the Official Vinyl Charts, to name but a few significant developments.

"With such momentum behind the charts right now, we're tremendously excited to be partnering with Coalition and Renegade to build on this, and bring the Official Charts to life in a live setting."

Coalition Talent CEO Guy Robinson comments:
"We're hugely excited to be working with the Official Charts. Having the Global Release Day on Friday has given us a fantastic opportunity to engage students with live activations, the demographic renowned for being taste-makers. The events will bring the Top 40 to life featuring both established and breaking artists, and hosted by Radio 1's new recruit Cel Spellman."

Cel Spellman added: "It's been an amazing year for me, especially joining Radio 1, and I can't wait to get out on the road with Official Charts. I love music, have always listened to the charts whilst growing up, and going on the road with some of best acts from the Top 40 really is a dream come true."

Renegade Music MD Chris Smith comments: "We're delighted Official Charts are embracing the massive importance of the student marketplace. We are really looking forward to helping Guy and the Coalition team deliver some amazing new acts to perform at these events, which will help our record label clients get their priority acts in front of the most receptive of audiences".
