Spinnin' Records receives 'Diamond Playbutton' from YouTube CEO

Dutch label wins prestigious YouTube award

Spinnin' Records has won a remarkable prize last night for reaching 10 million subscribers on its Youtube channel. During Vidcon, the world's largest online video conference in Anaheim, California, the Dutch label received the 'Diamon Playbutton' from YouTube's CEO Susan Wojcicki, an honor not many YouTube channels have achieved.

Spinnin' Records welcomed its 10 millionth subscriber last month, after it started its own video channel in 2007. "Our goal was to fill in the gap MTV had left with our own exciting music videos", says Spinnin's head of marketing Meindert Kennis, who saw himself get invited to the stage last night during the keynote speech of  YouTube's CEO Susan Wojcicki.

Spinnin' Records won the Diamond Award, also known as the 'Diamond Playbutton'. It's an award not many YouTube channels can claim, last night it was only three other channels besides Spinnin' Records that received the prize; channels The Fine Bros, Epic Rap Battles and Smosh.

Spinnin' Records on YouTube

After the Spinnin' Records YouTube channel caught a wave in 2009, it never slowed down. Presenting videos by some of the most popular artists in the world like Tiësto, Martin Garrix, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Oliver Heldens, Nicky Romero and Afrojack it quickly gathered subscribers by the tens of thousands. To give an impression, 2015's first quarter the channel grossed an impressive 1 billion views.

Currently residing on the 29th spot in the overall list of most popular YouTube channels worldwide (#8 on the list of music channels), and with the list of followers still increasing, it looks like Spinnin' Records is still on top of its game.

Last month, the magic mark of 10 million subscribers was reached, which the label celebrated by posting a special video bringing all the highlights of these past years together in a unique, 10 minutes music/video mix.
