Rob Wells joins London-based Crowdmix



Crowdmix (the Company), a new, London based social network dedicated to music fans and artists, has appointed Rob Wells, former President of Global Digital Business at Universal Music Group ("UMG"), as its Global Chief Commercial Officer and CEO - The Americas, heading up its North American operations.

The Company has raised over USD $20 million of pre-launch funding from a number of private and institutional investors, and is currently in the process of raising an additional $20 million to $30 million by the end of 2015.

Crowdmix's app is due to launch in Q1 2016 and will unify the currently fragmented social media landscape around music. The app will enable users to develop and enjoy rich, social media experiences by joining crowds, or communities, of like-minded people, using music as the link.

Rob Wells, who left UMG earlier this year, after a 14-year tenure, has been one of the world's most influential people in the commercialisation of music via digital and streaming platforms over the past decade. He will be based in Los Angeles, developing Crowdmix's West Coast hub and driving the US-business as well as assuming responsibility for developing and implementing a commercial strategy for the company within the global entertainment sector. As a key member of the Crowdmix Board, he will spend a proportion of his time at Crowdmix's head office in London.
