MPA strikes copyright protection partnership with AudioLock

The MPA has announced a partnership with music copyright protection specialist AudioLock - offering members two months free protection for a limited number of tracks, plus heavily discounted access to AudioLock’s market-leading service.

The partnership will enable new and existing MPA members to use AudioLock’s online anti-piracy toolkit to protect a maximum of 15 high priority tracks and 30 back catalogue tracks - continuously scanning social networks, file lockers and search engines for infringements, automatically sending DMCA takedown requests and providing realtime statistics. In addition, members will receive 100 secure watermarked delivery credits for a period of two months, enabling them to send secure and traceable promos in confidence.

In total, these services amount to £200 worth of AudioLock protection.

Sarah Osborn, CEO of the MPA said: “As with any sector of the industry, online infringement is a recurring headache for MPA members, the vast majority of whom are SMEs - eating up publishers’ valuable resources, hitting revenues and distracting them from the business of licensing music. We anticipate that our partnership with AudioLock will help alleviate this burden, and we anticipate positive results over coming months.”

Ben Rush, AudioLock’s Founder and CEO added: “Our new collaboration with the MPA forms a key part of our existing educational program, using events, talks and Ambassadors to help rights holders protect and keep track of their intellectual property. We feel that supporting trade bodies like the MPA is a significant step to curtailing infringement, and we look forward to showing publishers how our technology can help their business.”

Music publishing is now widely recognised as one of the fastest-growing and valuable sectors of the UK music industry - contributing more than £562m in exports to the British economy in 2014.

Established in 2009, AudioLock’s 24/7 Scanning & Takedown and Watermarked Promo Delivery systems are now used by hundreds of labels, DJ’s producers, digital aggregators and download stores worldwide.
