JAKE WISELY APPOINTED CEO OF THE BICYCLE MUSIC COMPANY

Globally influential independent music publisher and rights manager, The Bicycle Music Company, today announced that Jake Wisely has been promoted to Chief Executive Officer. Formerly Bicycle co-president, Wisely will now oversee all music publishing, licensing and rights management for The Bicycle Music Company and sister company Concord Music Group, reporting to group CEO, Scott Pascucci.

The combined Bicycle/Concord portfolio includes more than 9,000 active albums and over 60,000 compositions from some of the most iconic names in music history including Paul McCartney, John Coltrane, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Ray Charles, Robert Johnson, Pete Seeger, Marvin Hamlisch, Thelonious Monk, Miles Davis, Isaac Hayes, Nine Inch Nails, Otis Redding, Little Richard and Billie Holiday to name a few.

Wisely has been instrumental in building The Bicycle Music Company into a global independent publishing powerhouse. Under his direction, the company has amassed an immense and diverse collection of publishing assets including classic compositions such as “Always On My Mind,” “Bust A Move,” “Cross Road Blues,” “Eye Of The Tiger,” “Guantanamera,” “Lady Sings The Blues,” “Let Your Love Flow,” “Man In The Mirror,” “Sister Christian,” “Slow Ride,” “Stand By Your Man,” “Time After Time,” and the songs from A Chorus Line.

The Association of Independent Music Publishers named the Bicycle Music Company Independent Publisher of the Year in 2013.

“I’m so proud of what we’ve built at Bicycle over the past decade and grateful to my partners and our board for the opportunity to lead this dynamic company into the future,” said Wisely. “To be entrusted with this great catalog is an honor.”

"Jake has been an integral member of the management team responsible for building The Bicycle Music Company to its current leadership role in the industry,” stated Scott Pascucci. “With his added responsibilities overseeing rights management and licensing for both Bicycle and Concord Music, he will be able to make even greater contributions on behalf of our writers, artists and label partners. All of us at Bicycle and Concord value his leadership and integrity and congratulate him on his promotion.”

Wisely, a 30-year industry veteran combined his early passion for punk rock and heavy metal with a keen entrepreneurial spirit to create a thriving fanzine publishing syndicate during the 1980’s Minneapolis music scene. He then founded the independent record label Red Decibel, Inc. in 1990, which led to production agreements with Warner Bros. Records and Sony Music. Wisely soon joined ASCAP as Director of Membership managing the Midwest office in Chicago. His experience also includes work in the west coast creative departments of both EMI Music Publishing and Universal Music Publishing and he also served as Director of Artists, Labels and Soundtracks at eMusic.com.

Wisely is a member of the California Copyright Conference and was elected to the Board of Directors of the Association of Independent Music Publishers in 2014.
