FIRST INDEPENDENT LABELS INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS

Organised by PrimaveraPro 2015, it will take place on the 27th May at the MACBA (Barcelona)

Independent labels will meet at the first Independents Labels International Congress, organised by PrimaveraPro in collaboration with APECAT (Association of Catalan labels), Impala (European Association of Independent Labels), UFI (Independent Phonographic union) and WIN (Worldwide Independent Network), the main associations of the sector. It will take place on the 27th May within the framework of PrimaveraPro 2015, and sets itself up as a meeting point for independent labels from all over the world, however big or small.

There is no doubt that the record label sector is now at a fascinating crossroads, faced with global challenges such as the boom of streaming and the upturn of vinyl joining the everyday challenges: How to better reach audiences? What steps is it necessary to take to get into international markets? What cultural policies exist or are planned to support the industry?

Aspects such as the single European digital market, how to generate revenue abroad and the importance of independent labels in the current record label market, as well as the unavoidable future challenges of the sector are some of the subjects that will be debated within the framework of the Congress that will include speakers of the calibre of Christof Ellinghaus (City Slang), Helen Smith (IMPALA), Charlie Phillips (WIN), Branko Komljenovic (Menart) and Borja Torres (Lovemonk), and institutional representatives at a national and European level.

All of this will make it possible to develop a realistic and accurate picture of the current situation of independent labels: of its uncertainties and aspirations, its problems and its future. A perfect starting point in order to face the final leg of the digital transition together and in the best conditions.
