Doctor Music Festival Announcement in London


Neo Sala, CEO and founder of concert music promoter, Doctor Music, today announced the return of its legendary festival, in front of the crème de la crème of the international music industry.

The reincarnation of the Doctor Music Festival will be a unique edition, taking place on the 12th, 13th and 14th of July, 2019 at the same location as the first three legendary years - Escalarre, in the Vall d'Àneu, in the Catalan Pyrenees.

The presentation took place at the prestigious Groucho Club in London, with BBC radio host, Matt Everitt, acting as master of ceremonies.

Attending were some of the most important figures in the live music industry, including managers and agents of Arcade Fire, The Black Keys, Blur, Bob Dylan, The Cranberries, Florence + The Machine, Icona Pop, Kraftwerk, Lorde, Mark Knopfler, Muse, Neil Young, New Order, Nick Cave, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Robbie Williams, Roger Waters, The Rolling Stones, System of a Down, Tom Petty and Twenty One Pilots.

 

During the presentation, the founding principles of the Doctor Music Festival 2019 were outlined: three days, four nights and a lifetime of memories! The aim of the festival, besides providing an unforgettable experience for fans, will be a lasting contribution to the sustainable development of the host region.

 

Located in the unspoilt Vall d'Àneu, surrounded by mountains, the valley is inhabited by bears, wood grouse, deer, bearded vultures and other wild species that have coexisted for centuries alongside the inhabitants of the small villages that live in and work the land. A Shangri-la in Western Europe, close to the stars and as delicate as it is beautiful. Environmental, economical and social sustainability are the mantras of the Doctor Music Festival.

This extraordinary musical and cultural event also raises the flag for the principal of food sovereignty. All the food that will be consumed at the festival will be sourced from organic agricultural and livestock farming and will be free of agrochemicals, transgenics and any kind of toxins.

 

The festival feels a profound connection with local producers, who will supply the vast majority of this food.


In this way, the Doctor Music Festival will act as the international face and speaker for a Grand Project (boosted by the "Patronato de Turismo de la Diputación de Lleida"), to promote the Valle d'Àneu as a destination for ecological and sustainable tourism.

Even though there are still more than two years to go before the festival opens, the first big international artist has already been confirmed.

Albert Adrià, a renowned worldwide gastronomic giant, will transfer all his team from his Barcelona restaurant Tickets, to the heart of the Doctor Music Festival. For the very first time, one of the world`s greatest chefs will temporarily close his restaurant in order to completely integrate it into a musical and cultural festival that will last the whole weekend.  The experience that Adrià, and the whole Tickets kitchen, will bring to the festival will be an historic event in itself.

 

"Myself and all my team at Tickets are really excited to close the restaurant in Barcelona for a full weekend and move it to a wonderful mountain valley," says Albert, "I'm looking forward to the challenge of preparing all the food using the resources available from the region of Pallars. It will undoubtedly create a unique experience."

 

At midnight on Tuesday 21st of February 2017, the opportunity to pre-reserve tickets will open via the applications page on the Festival´s website www.doctormusicfestival.com

 

The first 6,000 tickets for the ReincarnationEdition of the Festival will be available from the beginning of May 2017. The exact date of purchase and points of sale will be announced nearer that date. The initial special price for the first batch of tickets will be 175 €.  That grants access to the site, for all shows, during the three days of the festival.

 

The organisers are very conscious of the magic the first editions of the Doctor Music Festival created.  This would not have been possible without the huge commitment of the people who attended back then, who created a series of experiences that still live in the memory of all who were there.

For this reason, Doctor Music Festival will create a special offer for those who attended previous editions (and for their companions) - a 50 € discount on the purchase of their Festival ticket for everyone who can prove, before the 30th of April (provided there are still tickets left), that they were present at any one of the historical festivals at Escalarre in either 1996, 1997 or 1998, or at the 2000 Edition in Asturias.

The Doctor Music Festival has already activated a campaign through the Facebook page "Doctor Music Festival" that will provide a special code for those original pioneers to ensure their presence at the ReincarnationEdition of 2019.

 

This is a special discount price, that will allow them to buy a ticket for the three days for only 125 € (price applicable up to a maximum of 4 tickets per person).

The Doctor Music Festival site will occupy more than 140 hectares, containing 5 stages, VIP camping and general camping zones, ready for a minimum of 40,000 people.  

 

Also known as the Festival of the Cow and the Woodstock of the Pyrenees, this event continues to be the musical benchmark for Southern Europe.

And just like in the 1990s, Doctor Music Festival will showcase some of the most important stars in rock history, the best in contemporary music and emerging artists destined to be the legends of the future.

Previous editions of the Doctor Music Festival witnessed incredible artists including David Bowie, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, Bob Dylan, Massive Attack, Rage Against The Machine, Blur, Beastie Boys, Muse, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Patti Smith, Sepultura, Megadeth, Carl Cox and many, many more.  They headed a line up of more than 350 artists that brought magic to the valley.
