Carl Barât & The Jackals Sign to Cooking Vinyl Records

Carl Barât & The Jackals have just inked a worldwide recording deal (excluding North America) with Cooking Vinyl Records. Carl Barât said “the Jackals and I are honoured to be inaugurated into the bosom of the Cooking Vinyl clan.” Rob Collins, Director of Cooking Vinyl, enthused "it's an honour to have Carl on the label. He's a fantastic writer and a top bloke to boot! With the Jackals in tow he'll kill it live just as he does with the Libertines.” The bands management company, Various Artists Management, added, “we are delighted that Carl Barât and his new band the Jackals have signed with leading UK independent label Cooking Vinyl. The deal with Cooking Vinyl is for Carl Barât & The Jackals and does not include The Libertines or any of Barât’s other projects.
Barât recently reformed the Libertines with Peter Doherty, John Hassall and Gary Powell and played to a crowd of 65,000 at London’s Hyde Park. His new band The Jackals, played their first shows in May, including a sold-out show at London’s XOYO, they are currently put the finishing touches to their debut album, produced by Joby J. Ford (The Bronx) to be released early in 2015. A single is expected after The Libertines shows at Alexandra Palace (September 26th, 27th & 28th). Barât has just completed filming his first starring role, in the film ‘For This Is My Body.’
As a member of the Libertines Barât has thus far released two albums, Up The Bracket (2002) and The Libertines (2004). His next band, Dirty Pretty Things, released Waterloo To Anywhere (2006) and Romance At Short Notice (2008), followed by a solo album, Carl Barât, in 2010 and his first book Threepenny Memoir – The Lives Of A Libertine in the same year.
