AWARDS TRIUMPH FOR MICA LEVI’S UNDER THE SKIN SOUNDTRACK

Mica Levi has received two prestigious film awards for her highly acclaimed score of the feature, Under The Skin, directed by Jonathan Glazer and starring Scarlett Johannsson.

The 26 year-old leader of Micachu And The Shapes has been honoured with the European Composer award at the European Film Awards. Mica will be presented with her trophy at this week's ceremony in Riga, 2014's European City of Culture. She has received a further accolade from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association for Best Music Score, a prize she will share jointly with Jonny Greenwood for his soundtrack to Inherent Vice.

Mica's score for Under The Skin is her first foray into film composition and her work has received widespread critical praise, not least from Jonathan Glazer who recalled his experience of working with the classically trained artist, "Mica is very insightful and intuitive…We had a lot of discussions about what sounds might work and what wouldn’t, and when we heard the ones that sounded right, they became the language for the film. All those bendy and stretched notes just felt correct. It came half from the heart, half from the head."
