KOBALT SIGNS BREAKTHROUGH SOLO ARTIST, ZAYN



ZAYN Pens Deal with Kobalt Music Publishing and Kobalt Neighbouring Rights Following Latest Album Release
 
Kobalt, the leading independent music services company, today announced a worldwide agreement with ZAYN. The deal was signed with both Kobalt Music Publishing and Neighbouring Rights divisions; it covers all available works including ZAYN’s critically-acclaimed debut album, MIND OF MINE which was released on March 25, 2016.

ZAYN's manager, Sarah Stennett, CEO and founder of First Access Entertainment commented, “Kobalt is a great business partner for Zayn. He made a decision based upon his desire to retain ownership of the copyrights in the songs he has written. He feels that Kobalt is best placed to administer those copyrights globally.”

With the release of MIND OF MINE, ZAYN made history as the first male U.K. solo artist to debut at #1 with their first album on both the U.S. Billboard Top 200 chart and the Official U.K. Albums chart. In addition, he is the first U.K. act, solo or otherwise, to debut at #1 on both the U.S. and U.K. charts since 2009. The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart with more than 157K copies sold to date, distinguishing ZAYN as the first male U.K. solo artist to reach #1 with their first album on this chart. “PILLOWTALK," ZAYN’s first single, quickly soared to #1 on the Top 40 radio chart, debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, #1 on the U.S. Digital Songs Chart, #1 on the U.K. singles sales charts, #1 on Billboard’s On Demand Songs Chart, and became the fastest track by a debut artist to reach #1 worldwide on Spotify.
