Next week marks the annual pilgrimage of the music industry's finest to Brighton for the Great Escape Festival and hopefully the return of warm, sunny weather. Over the next week and a bit, we shall be spotlighting some of the standout acts we think you should check out. First up is rising Northern Irish singer-songwriter Odhran Murphy. Raised and based in the quiet beauty of County Armagh, Odhran’s music is deeply shaped by his family and the folk scene. Having been taught the guitar by his mother and inspired by his grandfather and parents performing in local bands, he grew up playing by ear, and developed a raw, instinctive approach to songwriting. Signed to 10k Projects and fresh off the viral success of ‘Limitless Love’ (over 9.3m Spotify streams) and recent single 'Close To You (4m streams), Odhran has just released this tender and emotionally rich single. Rooted in his signature country-folk sound, ‘Angel of Mine’ blends warm acoustic textures with soft pop flourishes to create a powerfully evocative, heartfelt and rousing ode about unconditional love. With a growing fanbase and his debut EP due later this month, he’ll be bringing his live show to the UK for his first London and headline show at Camden Assembly on 13 May, before playing at the Great Escape next Thursday at 7.15pm at Komedia Studio.
