Norma Jean Martine
No Gold

Virgin EMI

WE SAY

Norma Jean Martine is an Anglo-American London-based artist we’ve kept an eye on since she first impressed us three years ago. She was unsigned at the time but we just knew there was the potential for her to become a major star around the world. Now she looks set to deliver on that promise as the build up to her debut album continues with the release of this great song. Only In My Mind is due for release on September 9 and will contain previously featured track Animals alongside this, co-written and produced by Joel Pott (formerly lead singer with Athlete, and co-writer of George Ezra’s anthem Budapest). Her profile is building nicely with an appearance over the Bank Holiday weekend at Liverpool’s Sound City being warmly-received, over 90,000 Spotify streams for this single in its first week and over 100,000 views for the video too, which was filmed in her hometown of Middletown, New York. This song is a refreshing gospel-tinged blues-influenced delight that will sound perfect blasting out of speakers almost anywhere this summer and beyond. Grown-up pop, expertly crafted.
