Five years since Lisa Hannigan released her acclaimed Passenger album, she's re-emerged with At Swim to unanimous praise by critics. At a time when stripped-back, heartfelt acoustic songs offer a safe harbour from our stormy world, it explains why new music from a stand-out exponent like Lisa has been hugely anticipated. It's helped sell-out her upcoming UK and European tour this October, which takes in a London date at Islington Assembly Hall. We heard Lisa perform a fabulous live session for Dermot O’Leary on Radio 2 on Saturday, and can vouch for the fact that her latest songs sounded absolutely sublime in the late summer sunshine.
