Guy Baron is the London-based producer and musician behind Semi Precious, and if you’re looking for an almost-perfect audio accompaniment to a lazy summer holiday in the sunshine, we think this could be just what you need. It comes from his debut album Ultimate Lounge, which picked a glowing review in the Sunday Times Culture section last weekend, along with a bunch of notable online blog support from The Line Of Best Fit, Daytrotter and The Creators Project. His previous EP was co-produced by Matthew Herbert (who’s worked with the likes of Bjork and Roisin Murphy). They’ve also just finished their first -ever UK headline tour to promote the collection that pays homage to the chilled-out lounge genre, but does it with a unique personal twist which Guy described as a personal exploration of the longing to a sanitised and seemingly utopian “elsewhere”. There’s already a huge amount of sync interest, particularly from the US and it’s easy to hear why. Reassuringly reflective yet perfectly placed in the contemporary, this is stress-busting perfection from a gifted talent.
