Gypsy & The Cat
Jona Vark

RCA

WE SAY

We first featured the gorgeous Jona Vark by Gypsy & The Cat as an unsigned demo back in September 2009, singling out the combination of some 'fine pop songwriting' against 'a dreamlike backdrop' at the time. It's now their next single on RCA. iTunes UK featured The Piper's Song as Single of the Week last week to a great reaction (over 50,000 downloads), resulting in the album, Gilgamesh, going into the Top 100 afterwards. The album has only been soft-released in their native Australia with no marketing so far and has sold 30,000 copies, largely through word of mouth. Well-received Alan Braxe and Starsmith remixes have sent Jona Vark into the top ten of the UK Club Chart here ahead of the single's release. The band make their US live debut at Coachella in April - we can imagine this track and this band becoming a festival staple this summer. Video.
