WE SAY
Beautiful and quietly understated, this gorgeous track from London-based singer-songwriter Delaire is something to treasure. We first featured her last year, a couple of months ahead of her debut release Belief. Back then we were struck by her extraordinary voice, so reminiscent of Hannah from London Grammar, blended with Florence Welsh and even a touch of Tori Amos. Those vocals shine through again here, as she bares her soul over a soundbed of restrained electronic pulses, synth shimmers and finger clicks, all of which are cleverly layered throughout. She’s been a featured artist on BBC Introducing in London, recorded a live session at Maida Vale as part of the People’s History Of Pop series, performed at both Blissfields and Lee Fest, and is now working on a wealth of new material with a wide range of producers and writers including Helsinki’s F.U.N.C. R&B collective. She’s playing live in London tonight (November 9) at 229 the venue on Great Portland Street. It's a joy to immerse yourself into her music, and we’re excited to hear where she’ll take us next after this sonic gem.
