Continuing Ones To Watch 2022 is the hugely talented, Dublin-based artist CMAT. It has been quite the year for Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson, who has quickly built up a growing cult fanbase with sold-out shows, strong physical sales and critical acclaim. She first came to our attention back in February this year, when we featured her as one of our Compass artists. Her lyrical wit and humour combined with a colourful blend of country, pop and alt-pop has seen the Guardian, NME, the Line of Best Fit, the Sunday Times, and the Irish Times, among others, sing her praises. While the Observer (Ones To Watch 2022), DIY (Class of 22) and Dork (Hype List for 2022) have all tipped her for big things next year too. Radio support has come from Radio 1, Radio 2, 6 Music and Apple Music. At streaming, Spotify and Apple Music have featured her tracks heavily with this electro-infused alt/indie-pop banger appearing on eleven Spotify NMF playlists and Apple Music’s Untitled, Antidote, and New in Pop. Having supported Declan McKenna on tour this year and selling out her recent London shows, CMAT will be heading out on a 13-date UK and Ireland tour in 2022, along with numerous summer festivals dates. Recalling elements of Taylor Swift, Dolly Parton, Abba and Kate Bush, CMAT’s transformative, infectious and inspiring pop is set to bewitch many, many more in 2022, making her one of our Ones To Watch 2022.
