Continuing our Ones To Watch 2022 is the brilliant California-based artist Tai Verdes. Last year, three months into the Covid-19 pandemic Tai was an essential worker with a 9-to-5 job at a Verizon Wireless store, and then everything changed when he uploaded his breakout single Stuck In The Middle onto TikTok. That song quickly caught the imagination of users on the platform, racking up over 2.5bn views and 2.6m TikTok video creations, plus over 80m combined streams on streaming services. Since then, the 25 year old has seen his star rise with each single, culminating in his album release TV this year. One of its highlights was this sublime and laidback track, which has been RIAA Certified Gold and led to a live performance on Jimmy Kimmel. Along the way, he has amassed over 455m global streams, editorial support at Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music, while also tastemaker praise from the likes of Rolling Stone, Billboard, Nylon, the Line of Best Fit, NME, BBC and the Independent, among others. In October, he sold out his first UK show at the Courtyard Theatre in London and is now preparing for his HDTV US headline tour in April next year and the release of new music. With his chilled out vibes, infectious pop hooks, Tai Verdes has everything to see that 2022 is even bigger than 2021.
