The quality and quantity of UK country-roots music that we’ve witnessed in the past few months shows no sign waning, and we can now add 23-year-old Alex Hart to our list of favourites. Hailing from the same Devon village as Joss Stone, Alex signed her UK record deal after she was spotted supporting the great Turin Brakes live. She was inspired to pick up the guitar aged just 14 when she saw KT Tunstall perform and this latest track from her debut album On This Day sees her profile and reputation grow much further afield than just here at home. Her debut UK tour began last weekend and she arrives in London tomorrow night (November 20) at The Islington. Now with a US label deal secured, BBC Introducing and Radio 2 support already there and respected country music magazine Maverick tipping her for mainstream crossover success, expect her beautifully-crafted songs and smooth, passionate vocals to lodge deep in your head and your heart.
