There’s definitely something fresh and exciting going on in Newcastle right now. Tyneside-based four-piece VITO are the latest band you can add alongside recently featured The Pale White as ones to watch from the region, with their desire to lead the charge and bring anthemic alternative rock back to the forefront of the UK music scene. And this is an impressive debut. They recorded and self-produced this confident opening salvo at home before sending it to Pete Maher, the acclaimed mastering engineer who’s a passionate supporter of unsigned artists. They were picked up by End Of The Trail Records last summer after persistently gigging and honing their sound since forming around 18 months ago, and now have a Rough Trade distribution deal. With keen support from Nick Roberts at BBC Introducing Newcastle, they’ll bring their music to wider industry attention with a north London gig at The Monarch scheduled for April 12 and a Brighton showcase at The Great Escape on May 19. Strong on melody, and stuffed with hooks, this song hints at a bright year ahead of them.
