Sergio Mendes feat. Black Eyed Peas
Mas Que Nada

UCJ/ Concord

WE SAY

Forty years ago, Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66 released Mas Que Nada, the first Latin-pop crossover hit and the only time a song sung in Portuguese hit the top of the Billboard charts. Timeless is the first album of fresh recordings from Mendes in eight years Produced by the Black Eyed Peas’ will.i.am, the album reworks Mendes' classics with the help of Black Eyed Peas, Erykah Badu and Justin Timberlake amongst others. Mas Que Nada is a fine track that captures summer whether it's 1966 or 2006, and the update works well. The video is the highest climber the TV airplay chart jumping from #102 to #12, and it's on Radio 1's B-list. It can currently be heard on Nike's World Cup TV adverts. JF
