Preditah is the alias of Birmingham-born producer/remixer Nathan Gerald and this looks destined to be his debut chart crossover as an artist in his own right. Taking the familiar spoken-word hook from the old-skool Artful Dodger track Rewind and using it as the basis for this anthem, it’s already found favour with some of the key names at Radio 1 including Annie Mac, Zane Lowe and Phil Taggart plus a place on the 1Xtra playlist and at Kiss Fresh, where he has a resident DJ show. After working his way from pirate radio sets to becoming the touring DJ for Skepta, Preditah released a bunch of acclaimed grime instrumentals that cemented his status fully on the UK urban scene and has led more recently to high-profile remixes for acts including Disclosure, Jessie Ware, Blonde and Tchami. This cleverly straddles both worlds, remaining hip to that loyal crowd he built up so far whilst now taking him to the Top 40 pop audience too. Expect to see and hear this comfortably slotting into the high end of the singles chart as well as appearing on a plethora of compilations worldwide. It’s simple but very effective.
