WE SAY
It’s been a while, over five years in fact, since the dulcet sounds of Peter and Kerry were gracing mainstream radio (BBC Radio 1, 2, 6 Music & Xfm), winning the hearts of tastemakers (Clash, Guardian, The Line of Best Fit), and as a duo, touring the UK and Europe with the likes of Lianne La Havas, Lucy Rose and Laura Mvula. Now they are back, having spent the intervening years working on their respective solo material and projects, and oh boy, it’s been well worth the wait. Released last Friday, Cold Hugs oozes soothing ‘80s tinged synth melodies and warm vocal harmonies in this gorgeous mellow pop ballad. It’s a real joy to listen to and destined to be included on laid-back and new pop playlists. Self-produced in their converted shipping container studio in south London, Cold Hugs is the first of more single releases to come over the following months, and if they are half as good as this, we are in for a real treat.
