WE SAY

"The new regents of alternative quirk-soul," according to Stuart Bailie of BBC Radio Ulster's Across The Line show, Belfast band Panama Kings are picking up fans in the right tastemaker circles at present. Alternative Ulster magazine has this track, their second single, as No.3 in a reader's poll of the best songs to come out of Northern Ireland in the last five years. Radio support has come from the aforementioned ATL, Zane Lowe, Steve Lamacq, Huw Stephens and Tom Robinson. A host of recent live dates, including a spot at HWCH in Dublin, an In The City show and support slots with Dodgy, Young Knives and British Sea Power have resulted in some shining reviews (such as this) and plenty of buzz. Currently working on new recordings with producer/DJ Alex Metric, they possess an exciting rock sound which is pulled off with great confidence. JF
