Ondatrópica
Suena

Soundway

WE SAY

As a joining of old and young, mostly Colombian musicians, Ondatrópica provide a tropical barrage of sounds specifically designed to create a carnival party atmosphere. Conceived by bandleader Mario Galeano and English producer Will Holland, the 42-strong collective recorded the album from which Suena is taken in just three weeks at the famous Discos Fuentes studios in Medellín, Columbia, and the heritage of the music runs strong throughout. The band have garnered impressive press coverage, with a Metro and Guardian feature and the Telegraph naming their self-titled album “one of the albums of the year” there’s a sense this really could crossover. Radio has equally been receptive receiving spot plays from stations as varied as Gilles Peterson, Lauren Laverne, Gideon Coe, Huey Morgan, Don Letts on 6Music, John Kennedy on Xfm and World on 3 on BBC Radio 3.

London gig: July 20, Hackney Empire
