M.I.A.
Bingo

XL

WE SAY

M.I.A. is an artist with huge potential. And she's probably the coolest artist in the world right now. We just got back from the US where several senior executives echoed the general consensus that she's a star. We had an inkling of this before we'd heard a note because she looked so cool in the picture that Music Week kept running. We're just as intrigued now we've heard the whole album. It is fresh, vivid and likeably attitudinal with wonderful lyrics that make exactly the right amount of sense, but it's by no means an easy listening. As someone posted on our message board recently, all this should stand it in good stead with the Mercury judges. Bingo is one of the album's highlights.
