Hauntingly beautiful from start to finish, Darkness is the gorgeously atmospheric new single from rising duo Maven Grace. In their short time together, just under a year, they have wowed audiences and peers alike with their unique brand of cinematic, synth pop. After watching them play at Standon Calling, Bryan Ferry was so impressed that he invited them to record their next EP at his studio while Goldfrapp, similarly enamored, have remixed this sublime track which will be released in the coming weeks. Yesterday, they dropped their fever dream of a video shot by Hollywood wunderkind Drew Biennemann, whose previous collaborations have included The Chainsmokers and The Weeknd, which perfectly captures the song’s narrative of loss and grief. Tastemaker support has come from Clash, Louder Than War, 1883 Magazine and Songwriting Magazine, plus previous singles Innocent Dreams and Something Strange featured in Spotify UK’s New Music Friday and Viral 50 playlists. With its synth drenched tones, evocative soundscapes, and hauntingly cinematic atmosphere, Darkness could very well be the next song to haunt the Bang Bang Bar in Twin Peaks.
