MALKA
Breakout

Tantrum Records

WE SAY

Tamara Schlesinger is the Glasgow singer and performer better known as MALKA, and this latest upbeat single comes from her forthcoming second album, due later this year. Formally the front-woman of the acclaimed alt-folk collective 6 Day Riot, she’s since become a prolific songwriter whose work has appeared in loads of high-profile syncs across TV and film including Skins, Scream 4, and the iconic Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels. She then released her solo debut two years ago, she found favour with much of the team at 6Music including Lauren Laverne, Steve Lamacq, Nemone and Chris Hawkins, along with Huw Stephens at Radio 1. The love continued recently with support again for Wonder Why, the first single from her latest project. Tonight (February 7) she plays live in London at Servant Jazz Quarters, and summer festival dates will be announced soon. This song was a recent track of the week on BBC Scotland is optimistic, quirky, melodic pop that will truly lift your spirits, however down you might be feeling, and despite the craziness of the world today. Soak it in, we say.
