Laura Evans is a singer from Wales who can already count Drake as a fan of hers. He saw her performing in a downtown LA bar when she was living and working there last year, doing a piano cover of his hit Hold On, We’re Going Home, then immediately booked her to play at his mum’s private birthday party. But there’s a lot more to Laura than just someone playing other people’s songs. This beautiful original composition features on her EP Remember When and was co-written by her friend Ben Spivak from the band Magic! who scored a worldwide smash in 2014 with Rude. She’s currently working on new material for an album later this year, and will soon release a charity track to raise awareness for kidney donors in Wales that’s been written and recorded by her, with help from the Manic Street Preachers. This girl is seriously well connected. You’ll admire the purity of her voice on this wonderful, timeless track, recorded in one simple take with just piano accompaniment. It’s a song that sounds durable enough to work into almost any genre. An emotional, gorgeous find.
