Kyla La Grange
To Be Torn (Africa Express Mix)

ioki/Sony

WE SAY

This heartbreaking song from Kyla's debut album seems to have taken on a life of its own. Being Kyla's personal favourite, it also emerged via Facebook as a fan favourite from the album as well. The young singer then embarked on the Africa Express tour and performed it with Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Richard Russell of XL, and the Malian ngoni player Bassekou Kouyate, and the four of them liked it so much they went into the studio after the tour and recorded this version. The ?T?TIK? remix was synched on two different episodes of Beauty and the Beast. Meanwhile, Kyla's former RotD Vampire Smile is climbing the airplay top 200 in Germany, and she's just back from a sellout tour in Switzerland. Keep an eye on this artist - she could be primed to do something very special. Video.
