WE SAY
Last time we featured Jess Thristan in October 2014 we commented that her track Little Bird made us yearn for warm days sitting in the sunshine. Now that summer’s in full swing, the teenage singer-songwriter delivers this acoustic pop song and it’s the title track from her latest EP that fits the innocent care-free mood of the moment just so perfectly. Catchy and upbeat, Jess ponders why we’re all slaves to our modern tech and how life could be if we just turned our back on it all to return to life's simple pleasures. The EP also features two other songs from her forthcoming album, due this September, showing more of the depth and scope of this emerging artist. With strong support from Bob Harris and Clare Balding at Radio 2, it’s also worth checking out her covers of Wiz Khalifa’s See You Again and Taylor Swift’s Blank Space that she’s recorded for YouTube’s Reload sessions. Talented, smart and deserving to be heard synced across TV and film in the coming months, this is the pure essence of the season distilled perfectly into one sweet three minute tune.
