Damien Rice
The Blower's Daughter

DRM/14th Floor

WE SAY

This was our first ever Record of the Week, gracing our magazine pilot issue way back when Damien was unsigned and unpublished but enjoying some success in Ireland on his own label. So it's fitting that it returns as a Record of the Day during our second anniversary. It's not just nostalgia on our part - this jaw-dropping highlight of the O album is Damien's new single and features as the lead track in the forthcoming film Closer, which stars Julia Roberts, Jude Law, Natalie Portman and Clive Owen (Damien also composed the score). It will surely take Damien's album to double platinum in the UK. So, we think we made rather a good first choice of Record of the Week (see this week's magazine for birthday boasting about some of our other best selections from the past two years).
