Beth Rowley
Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground (Ft. Duke Special)

Blue Thumb/Decca

WE SAY

We first featured this excellent Willie Nelson cover by Beth Rowley and Duke Special last year when it appeared on Rowley's album Little Dream. We noticed it has resurfaced on the Decca compilation Folk Routes which was released this week. The collection features thirty five tracks; from the a more contemporary wave of folk artists (Sufjan Stevens, Fleet Foxes, Iron and Wine) through to artists like John Martyn, Fairport Convention and Donovan. It's just the right time for a well-judged celebration of folk tracks, new and classic. This beautiful track works perfectly in the mix. JF London gig: September 29, East Wintergarden E14
