Stop Fighting It is the sultry pop offering from rising London-based pop artist April Jai. Fusing moody lowkey synths with pulsing drum machine rhythms, the track builds in intensity with the addition of heavy guitar riffs as, lyrically, the song explores the unspoken desires of wanting to be more than friends. It’s a fiery pop number that shows another side to April, whose previous releases have been more of a chilled pop aesthetic. Her single, Not Like The Movies, featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday and her track It Ends with Us (based on international best-selling novel Colleen Hoover) went viral on TikTok and saw her amass over 500k streams. With grrrlmusic, Juniper Magazine and Absolute Radio, among others, having praised her earlier releases, April is building a name for herself on the London scene. Last night (27 March), she performed at The Ned in London, having previously sold-out The Troubadour in the capital at the end of 2022. With a growing catalogue of catchy, honest and relatable releases under her name, the Scottish native is an artist to keep an eye on in 2023.
