Woodkid
Run Boy Run

Island/Green United Music

WE SAY

Woodkid is rightly being touted as one of the most exciting and creative forces in music right now; he's certainly one of the most versatile. Having directed some of the biggest videos of recent times, including Lana Del Rey's Born To Die, Drake & Rihanna's Take Care and Katy Perry's Teenage Dream, he now steps out from behind the camera to deliver Run Boy Run, a swirl of dark, epic pop which jumps out of the radio and comes with a suitably portentous music video - self-directed of course. Synchs abound, the style press is in a lather, and radio support comes from Radio 1 (Zane in particular a fan), Radio 2 (Dermot O'Leary session March 23), 6Music and Kerrang!. This one could be an unlikely hit.

London gigs: March 23, Rough Trade In-store, May 14, Roundhouse
