Vancouver Sleep Clinic
Collapse

self-released

WE SAY

The name so palpably conveys the glacial, somnolent soundscapes in his songs that it's hard to believe Vancouver Sleep Clinic is actually the brainchild of 17 year-old Tim Bettinson from subtropical Brisbane. But goodness Collapse is beautiful - achingly so. It has been on Soundcloud for 22 days and is closing on 169k plays. Zane Lowe made the track a Next Hype last month, Phil & Alice also pitched in, and support of course comes from Triple J in his native Australia. Check out the sombre and sorrowful Vapour too, now over 250k plays since being posted in June. Both tracks, we are told, are the product of months assembling lyrics and instrumentation from notepads, whiteboards and bedroom walls, working with cheap scattered microphones, an old laptop and an outdated keyboard. Bon Iver comparisons are inevitable but hardly a slur. Vancouver Sleep Clinic will soon support London Grammar on their Australian dates, and we're excited for him to make the trip into the northern hemisphere.
