Tom The Lion
Tanks

unsigned

WE SAY

It is great to have Tom The Lion back with new music, five years after his beautiful album Sleep and its RotD featured title track. After critical acclaim for his first two albums, including a Rough Trade Album of the Month and support from Huw Stephens, Tom became disheartened by his music and so decided to take a step back to discover himself through music once again. It has been a long journey but by taking to the streets of London Tom found inspiration from the world around him to create a new body of work, Round Trip, with this utterly gorgeous track as its lead single. Recorded in collaboration with producer Luke Potashnick and mixed by Craig Silvey, Tanks is a deftly brooding number, tinged with vintage synths and deep bass lines, which perfectly accompany his honest and emotive vocals. Reminiscent of early Radiohead, this is a gloriously emotional indie track perfect for mood playlists and deserving of airplay on 6 Music and Radio X. Outside of his own work, he recently co-produced and co-wrote the latest Frank Carter & the Rattlesnakes album, as well as co-writing Jack Savoretti’s Youth and Love track on his No.1 album. He has recently finished a UK tour supporting Pinegrove and is planning more shows for the future, but for now, just enjoy this absolutely spellbinding track.
