We’re off to Scandinavia again for this rather dreamy, mystical release from musician Thea Hjelmeland. The singer-songwriter was raised by her artist mother and musical father, deep in the Norwegian fjords, and absorbed a variety of influences along the way. They shine through in this beautiful and uplifting track that’s set to transport you to another world, one that’s seemingly inhabited by floating spirits and creatures from fairy tales. It’s taken from the multi-instrumentalist’s second album, the Norwegian Grammy award-winning Solar Plexus, which was released last year to glowing reviews. Feathery is underpinned by an acoustic mandolin motif that runs throughout, skilfully layered with luscious vocals that rise and fall, all dripping in emotion and yearning. It’s short but oh so very sweet. Having captivated audiences in countries as varied as Cuba, Germany and France already, we hope she comes to visit the UK soon. Get set to welcome her with your arms out-stretched.
